This is such a simple craft for kids to make! The free printable template makes it a breeze to get started. It pairs nicely with The Enormous Turnip, but it also works with any vegetable or garden-themed picture book you might be studying in your classroom.

The Enormous Turnip Craft

All you need to complete this craft is crayons, tissue paper, scissors, and glue. It’s so easy to make that it’s perfect for busy homeschool and classroom teachers like you!

What You’ll Need

• printer paper

• tissue paper

• crayons

• glue

• scissors

• free turnip craft template

What You’ll Do

Print the turnip craft template on white cardstock or printer paper. You could even print it on construction paper if you cut the paper to fit your printer.

Next, color the turnip top. Cut out the turnip and the leafy topper.

Cut various shades of purple, red, and white  tissue paper into squares.

Starting at the top of the turnip with your darkest color, begin glueing the tissue paper squares. Be sure to layer the squares so that no white shows through.

I like to go from red to purple to white, but your kids can get creative if they’d prefer.

Once all the tissue paper squares are glued on, cut around the turnip shape to trip the tissue paper that’s hanging over the edges.

Now, glue the leafy top to the underside of the top of the turnip.

It’s all done! You can put it on display.
