Storytelling puppets are so much fun for kids to make and to use. Kids can use them to retell their favorite stories. They can also be used to make up stories of their own.

You can glue these puppets to felt, and add them to your felt storyboard. Or, add magnets to the back of them. Then, use a cookie sheet as your storytelling base. You can also glue them to craft sticks so kids can hold them.

Three Little Pigs Puppets

Looking for a fun way to tell your kids a story? Try this easy craft to lighten up the story time. It’s both fun and educational.

All you need to do is grab the listed supplies from the list below and print out the PDF templates to make your three little pugs, the wolf, and the houses.

What You’ll Need

  • Colorful Craft Papers
  • Scissors
  • Paper Glue/Craft Glue
  • Pencil
  • Markers
  • Ruler
  • Three Little Pigs Puppet Template

What You’ll Do

These puppets and props take a little time to prepare, but they’ll be well worth it when you’re done. Your kids will love making them and then using them to act out the fairy tale.

To Make the Houses

First, cut out the house shapes from the PDF template.

Use red paper for the brick house. Use a black marker to draw outlines on the house. Fill in the roof with a dark red marker.

Use yellow paper for the straw house and brown paper for the stick house. Use a black marker to draw outlines on those houses. You can use the photo above as a guide.

To Make the Wolf

Use the PDF template once again to cut out the wolf. You can use brown or grey paper to match the wolf in your version of The Three Little Pigs.

Use a black marker to outline the wolf. Then use that marker to draw the wolf’s eyebrows, ears and nose. You can use a white or silver marker to add details to the eyes and to add some teeth.

To Make the Pigs

Now, use the PDF template again to cut out the pig shapes.

Use your black marker pen to draw outlines on the pig. Finish it off by drawing the pigs face and mouth using more markers.

You can make different facial expressions on each pig to distinguish between the three pigs.

Enhance Your Activity Time

This set of Three Little Pigs hand puppets go perfectly with this story. This set includes the big bad wolf and all three pigs. So cute!

These Three Little Pigs felt board pieces are perfect for allowing kids to reenact this popular fairy tale.
