Book-based crafts are fun for preschoolers. They can get creative, and bring their favorite books to life. This ladybug craft is designed to do alongside The Grouchy Ladybug, but it can be paired with any ladybug book on your shelf.
Preschoolers will love painting and creating this adorable ladybug craft! It’s perfect for spring and summer crafting sessions with your little ones.
Ladybug Paper Plate Craft
Before setting up this paper plate craft for kids, read one or more of your favorite ladybug books with your little ones.
Once you’ve done that, you’re all set to create this adorable craft with your kids.
What You’ll Need
- Large paper plate
- Red and black craft paint
- Paint brushes
- Googly eyes
- Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
- Black pipe cleaner cut in half
- Black permanent marker
What You’ll Do
Flip the paper plate over and place it face down.
Paint the plate red. Set aside to dry.
Using the black paint, paint a small half circle on one side of the paper plate.
Paint a black line coming down from the middle of the half circle.
Paint black dots on each side of the ladybug. Set aside and allow time to dry.
Use the hot glue gun to glue the googly eyes on the black half circle.
Place a thin strip of hot glue on the back side near the face of the ladybug on both sides. You can mark the correct spot if needed with a black permanent marker. Place a pipe cleaner half on each side for the antenna.
Bend the antenna back over the ladybugs face/head and curl the tips with your finger!
