This summer, read Ladybugs from Gail Gibbons to your preschoolers. Then, create a simple yet fun claypot ladybug craft for kids.

While this craft is designed to go with the book from Gail Gibbons, it really can go well with any book about ladybugs you may have on your shelf. It’s the perfect book-based craft for spring and summer lessons.

Ladybug Craft for Kids

This sweet craft is perfect for little kids. It’s easy to make and requires very few supplies. You can personalize this craft by using fingerprints for the ladybug spots.

What You’ll Need

  • Small clay pot
  • Red and black craft paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Paper plate
  • Black pipe cleaner (cut in half)
  • Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
  • Ladybugs by Gail Gibbons

What You’ll Do

Set the clay pot on a paper plate.

Paint the clay pot red. Set aside to dry.

Using the black paint, paint a line down the front of the clay pot. Paint spots on the sides of the line. Allow time to dry.

Fold the pipe cleaner half, in half. Curl the ends (for the antennae.)

Place a small dot of hot glue on the point of the antennae.

Attach to the inside of the clay pot above the black line. Fold the antennae back and set the ladybug on the side.

Enjoy!
