Little ones love farm animals, and they’re sure to love these farm books for preschool ages. These picture books will teach little ones about life on the farm.

As you begin planning your farm activities for preschoolers, be sure to leave room in your plan for some great farm-themed picture books. These are great for introducing kids to farm animals and life on the farm.

Farm Books for Preschool

Below, I’ve featured just a handful of picture books that will help your preschoolers learn about life on the farm.

You should be able to find them at your local library or bookstore. If you can’t find them locally, you can click each image cover to purchase them on Amazon.

 

The Farm Book – This sweet story details the daily routines of Betty and Bobby, and their farm animal friends the sheep, the pigs, the ponies, the chickens, the cows, and the geese.

Mrs. Wishy-Washy’s Farm – Uh-oh. Mrs. Wishy-Washy is at it again. Rubbing and scrubbing all the animals on the farm. But this time they aren’t standing for it. Duck, Cow, and Pig are leaving mean old Mrs. Wishy-Washy for good!

Over on the Farm – Welcome to the farm, where pigs roll, goats nibble, horses gallop, hens peck, and turkeys strut! Count, clap, and sing along to the classic tune of “Over in the Meadow” while learning about life on a classic farm. 

 

The Cow Said Neigh! – Children will laugh out loud when the cow wants to run free like a horse, the sheep wants a snout like a pig, and the dog wants to be inside like the cat.

Pete the Cat: Old MacDonald Had a Farm – This story brings us a groovy rendition of the classic favorite children’s song “Old MacDonald Had a Farm,” sung by cool cat Pete and perfect for sing-along time with young readers.

Big Red Barn – Rhymed text and illustrations introduce the many different animals that live in the big red barn.

 

Cows Can Moo! Can You?: All About Farms – Join the Cat in the Hat as he spends a day on the farm with Mr. and Mrs. Greenbean and their three little Greenbeans: Jean, Dean, and baby Irene!

Farm Crops! Plants That Grow on Farms – Aside from animals, there are also plenty of greens to see at the farm. Read on to identify some of the crops normally seen in farms.
