The Disney version of Cinderella that we all know and love is perfect for young children. Pair it with the Disney classic movie version for a fun tie in.
However, older children can appreciate the fact that this story has been told around the world. Check out a few different versions of Cinderella to explore with your students. Choose some books from different cultures – Africa, China, the Caribbean, etc.
What’s included in this printable?
First, there is a bit of Cinderella history in this pack and a list of popular Cinderella stories around the world. This page includes ten popular versions for you to check out including Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters (Africa) and Yeh-Shen (China).
You’ll find two Venn diagrams in this story. On one, students are challenged with the task of comparing/contrasting two characters from the story of Cinderella. On the other, children are challenged with the task of comparing/contrasting two different versions of Cinderella.
The geography graphic organizer encourages students to explore the country the story is from. They’ll search for fun facts, famous people, landmarks, traditional foods, and more.
Finally, the recording page can be printed out and used with any version of Cinderella. Students will record the book’s title, country of origin, main characters, and unique elements. These pages can then be used to fill out the Venn diagram if you’d like.
