With a big stash of donut-themed books on hand, you and your kids will have a hard time choosing which book to read first.

If you give a kid a book about donuts, they'll want to read more. Good thing we've come up with a great collection of children's books about donuts!

Childrens Books About Donuts

Below, I’ve featured just a handful of picture books about donuts.

You should be able to find them at your local library or bookstore.

If you can’t find them locally, you can click each image cover to purchase them on Amazon.

If You Give a Dog a Donut

If you give a dog a donut, he’ll ask for some apple juice to go with it. When you give him the juice, he’ll drink it all up.

Then, before you can say “Woof” . . . Dog is off on a backyard adventure!

Donuts: The Hole Story

With donut cops (of course), donut pirates (why not), maple bar lumberjacks (eh?), coffee jacuzzis, and a bakeshop full of donut puns, Donuts: The Hole Story is a delicious romp through a world filled with (and made of) everyone’s favorite fat-fried friends.

The Donut Chef

In this tasty tale, a baker hangs out his sign on a small street, and soon the line for his donuts stretches down the block.

But it’s not long before the competition arrives and a delectable battle of the bakers ensues.

Curious George The Donut Delivery

Curious George adds a few extra zeroes to his donut order and doesn’t realize just how big his delivery problem is going to become.

Daisy the Donut Fairy

Daisy and her mermaid friends have too many donuts.

Find out how they fix their problem and make friends along the way in this delightfully sweet story.

The Jelly Donut Difference: Sharing Kindness with the World

Leah and Dexter are brother and sister. They don’t always get along. In fact, there are times they can be downright mean to each other.

The ooey, gooey jelly donuts in this story are a testament to the power of kindness, caring and generosity.

Find out if Leah and Dexter will ever learn to get along!

Doughnuts for a Dragon

George, a young explorer, longs to be a dragon-searching hero from long, long ago.

So he climbs in his time machine with only a scooter, some cakes, and tasty doughnuts to aid him in his quest.

When he arrives in long, long ago he spies a dragon straight away—or does he?

Donuts With Dad Day

Brittney, Malik, and Chase cannot wait to celebrate Donuts with Dad’s day at school. Kayla is not as excited as her friends.

She has a secret that she doesn’t want her friends to find out about.

She just wants to stay home, but her mom finds a way to make donuts with her dad special after all.

The Hole Story Of The Doughnut

In 1843, fourteen-year-old Hanson Gregory left his family home in Rockport, Maine, and set sail as a cabin boy on the schooner Achorn, looking for high-stakes adventure on the high seas.

Little did he know that a boatload of hungry sailors, coupled with his knack for creative problem-solving, would yield one of the world’s most prized and beloved pastries.

Children's Book: The Donut Thief

Sammy can’t wait to eat the donut on the kitchen table. But there is one big problem…someone has already taken it.

Will we find out who the donut thief is? Read along and help Sammy solve the case of the missing donut!

Dozens of Doughnuts

A generous but increasingly put-upon bear makes batch after batch of doughnuts for her woodland friends without saving any for herself in this delightful debut picture book about counting, sharing, and being a good friend.

If you give a kid a book about donuts, they'll want to read more. Good thing we've come up with a great collection of children's books about donuts!

Round Out Your Unit with These Activities:

This felt donut stacker includes a wooden stacker and 6 felt donuts. They are a mix of chocolate and regular donuts, frosted in bright colors, and topped with embroidery floss sprinkles. They can be stacked and unstacked for hours, helping kids with their motor skills, counting, and colors.

Try and catch all of your donuts in this action packed game of strategy that just might take a little bit of luck too! Be the first player to fry and fly all of your donuts into the Baker’s box and you win! This game is recommended for ages four plus, but friends and family of all ages will love Fryin’ Flyin’ Donuts!
